A 31-year-old man has won a car worth £34,000 and £1,000 in cash with a 99p raffle ticket.

Tom Holmes from Gerrards Cross entered the 7days Performance online raffle on January 6.

Mr Holmes is a carpenter for a living and says he's now able to put a deposit down to get a house with his girlfriend after winning the cash.

He said: "At around 8.25pm the phone started ringing and I wasn’t watching the live draw on Facebook on this occasion.

"I called the number back and to my amazement it was George from 7days performance. He asked me if I had entered a raffle recently. I couldn’t remember what I had got tickets on other than the car.

"He asked me if I was sat down. I said 'yes I am' and he told me 'Tom you have just won the RS3 with £1,000 tax free cash or a cash alternative of £34,000!'

"I jumped off my sofa in excitement and called my family and girlfriend. They told me it was a scam and that it is too good to be true as it usually is."

Tom said he wanted a new car as he relies on work van to get from A to B but he took the cash alternative in order to pay off his debts.

"I took the cash alternative as it’s a major help at this stage in my life," he said.

"Winning the prize means I have a lot more opportunities such as getting a house. My girlfriend and I are now in a position to start looking for a house with a nice deposit.

"This prize has changed my life I’ve been able to pay of my debts and become debit free. It’s amazing how much my life has changed in just three weeks."
