THE FOUNDER of a glass gallery and studio in Buckinghamshire has been named as one of UK’s most inspiring female entrepreneurs.

Marie Cavanagh has made a difference in Chalfont St Peter since 2014, when she opened Fired Works glass art gallery and studio specialising in unique art, functional items, jewellery, trinkets and in-person workshops.

Now the entrepreneur, who is also the former president of the Chalfont St Peter Chamber of Commerce and a committee member, has been recognised for her impact as part of Small Business Britain’s f:Entrepreneur campaign.

Marie commented: “To be named as one of the UK’s inspirational and dynamic female founders is a huge honour.  In 2022 Fired Works was named as one of 100 inspirational small businesses, so following that on with this accolade is a fantastic start to 2023.”

The campaign was founded by Michelle Ovens CBE in 2017 to highlight the contribution of women running businesses.

She said recognising and celebrating “the phenomenal contribution that women running businesses are making across the UK, and the far-reaching, positive impact they are having, not just on the economy, but on wider communities too” was vital.

“The last few years have been hugely challenging for small businesses, yet despite this female entrepreneurship continues to grow and flourish in the UK, and is very much at the heart of the UK’s recovery, " Michelle added.
