Waitrose has responded to online rumours surrounding the closure of one of its Bucks stores.

Social media posts appeared online claiming the store in Gerrards Cross had decided not to renew its lease and will be closing in the near future.

When putting the claims to the team at Waitrose, a spokesperson said: "The current lease expires in less than a decade, so there's no immediate impact to our shop - and we will carry on trading as normal."

When pushed on clarity surrounding the expiration of the lease, the spokesperson confirmed that their current lease at the Bucks site runs out in 2032.

The spokesperson would not comment further on any decisions or speculation surround renewing the current lease.

The store is currently based on Station Road and opened in May 2012 being numbered branch 459.

Waitrose previously had a store in the town opening branch 59 in 1928 before it closed in September 1969.
