A proposal has been made for a speed limit on the new Beaconsfield relief road.

The A355 Bowl Barrow Way was built with an aim to improve north-south connectivity in Buckinghamshire and opened in April 2022.

The council also hopes it will reduce congestion on the A355 and at the London End roundabout, Beaconsfield, as well as provide a more suitable route for HS2 construction traffic.

The aim of the review is to formalise the speed limit and a clearway to stop parking in accordance with the planning conditions.

The proposals vary at different locations and include:

  • A rural clearway on the full length of A355 Bowl Barrow Way (between its northern junction with A355 Amersham Road to its southern junction with A40 Pyebush Roundabout)
  • A 40mph speed limit on A355 Bowl Barrow Way from its junction with A355 Amersham Road southwards to the first street lighting column approximately 103 metres north of the roundabout with Minerva Way (this restriction is already signed on the ground). The subsequent length of A355 Bowl Barrow Way from this point to A40 Pyebush Roundabout is 30mph due to the presence of street lighting.

A statement on the proposal website: "We will consider all the responses and prepare a report.

"The council’s Cabinet Member for Transport will review the report and make a decision about the proposed scheme.

"If you provide your email address or other contact details, we will contact you about the decision once it has been made.

"The results of the consultation and decision will also be published on this webpage."
