AN 'INVASIVE' thief from High Wycombe who left behind a trail of blood at the scene of a break in has been jailed.

Sam Fellingham, of Holly Place in Loudwater, High Wycombe, has been sent to prison for burglary and theft.

Oxford Crown Court heard how the 40 year old broke into an address in Hedgerley Lane, Beaconsfield, on December 15, 2022.

He stole £480 worth of jewellery.

The court heard how Fellingham broke in via a window, and left small droplets of blood on the floor in the conservatory and on a metal pole left in the garden which proved to be crucial evidence in the investigation.

Marks from footwear were also left in snow and the defendant was also seen by a member of the public who described him as he made off from the rear of the property.

Fellingham was arrested on January 26 and charged the following day.

He pleaded guilty to one count of burglary in a dwelling and one count of theft at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on January 28.

On Thursday, February 23, he was sentenced to a total of 12 months in prison at Oxford Crown Court.

Investigating officer PC Adrian Reynolds said: “This was an extremely invasive and brash burglary, targeting a property that the offender knew to be unoccupied at the time.

“The owners of the property were not at home, but burglary is an offence which we take extremely seriously and will always investigate thoroughly.

“In this case, Sam Fellingham left behind lots of evidence to link him to the offence, and as a habitual offender, he has now been jailed.

“I hope that he will use his time in custody productively and reflect on his actions.

“Burglary causes a tremendous amount of upset to victims and communities, and we will tirelessly investigate such offences and bring to justice anybody who commit such crimes.”
