With the recent Pinewood Studios expansion, Buckinghamshire is quickly becoming a highly desirable filming location.

But the county is not new to hosting glamorous movie stars or offering its green landscapes to sweeping cinematic shots.

'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' (1968)

The musical-fantasy film 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' used many filming locations including around Bucks and Berkshire, as well as France and Germany for the child-hating kingdom of 'Vulgaria'. 

This shot, of Truly Scrumptious driving the children home to their father, was taken in the green Chiltern Hills of Turville. Check out the comparison photos below.

'Gosford Park' (2002)

'Gosford Park', the period drama-mystery starring Maggie Smith and Helen Mirren, was shot entirely across Buckinghamshire and Herfordshire.

The screengrab below shows the grounds and gazebo of Hall Barn House near Beaconsfield, alongside a more recent photo of the estate.

'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (1969)

The sixth-ever James Bond film, starring George Lazenby as 007, was filmed across the continent, with UK shoots based in London and Bucks.

The scene below shows Bond deep in the English countryside, driving down Thames Lawn in Marlow. See the up-to-date photo for how the street has changed today.

'Revenge' (1971)

The British thriller film 'Revenge', starring Joan Collins and directed by Sidney Hayers, was filmed entirely in Buckinghamshire and if you're a Bucks local, you're likely to spot quite a few familiar locations.

The shot below was taken on Gordon Road in High Wycombe, with an updated view of the street for comparison.

'Murder at the Gallop' (1963)

Starring Margaret Rutherford as the beloved sleuth Miss Marple, this Agatha Christie adaptation was also filmed across Bucks and Herfordshire, making the most of the counties' classic English countryside and scenery. 

The title shot looks out on a view of Old Amersham, but the eagle-eyed will also spot scenes featuring Village Road in Denham and Church Road in Little Marlow throughout.
