PONY and trap racing has once again been thwarted by police in Bucks for the third time this month.

The busy dual carriageway of the A413 has long been the setting for pony and trap racing, an issue that has angered locals for many years.

The A413 around Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter has often been backed up with drivers trying to navigate the pony and trap racing safely.

This weekend officers from Princes Risborough neighbourhood police teams and TVP Roads Policing were out quickly to deal with reports of the event happening on Saturday, March 25.

The force said: "Multiple traffic tickets were given out and the roads were briefly closed to ensure the safety of the road users, pedestrians and the horses."

It comes after at least two further incidents around pony and trap racing have been dealt with this month alone.

Prior to this month, other incidents on the dual carriageway have seen several vehicles involved including a trailer filled with at least 16 people, and the pony and trap using the busy road near Gerrards Cross Golf Club last June.

Previously, Thames Valley Police has said “an escalation in the events” in the area could be caused by the enforcement response to horse and cart racing by police in Hampshire.
