One of the largest charity shops in Aylesbury has re-opened following a car crash at the start of this year.

Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity’s Furniture Showroom on Broadfields within the town re-introduced itself to the public on March 25 - six weeks after being forced to shut.

This was due to a car accidentally reversing into the front of the building, causing the door, window, and surrounding brickwork to crumble.

The extensive damage forced the shop to stop trading until a temporary door was installed last month.

During the enforced closure the charity was unable to accept donations from customers at the shop and, with limited storage space, furniture collections were also restricted.

The Showroom is the charity’s largest shop so this closure has had a major impact on their sales and donations during the last month.

Lily Caswell, Head of Retail at the charity, says, “We are so pleased to be reopening our Furniture Showroom again after last month’s unfortunate accident, and would like to thank everyone for their supportive messages through these difficult weeks.

"Our Retail team have been busy during the closure and the Showroom is absolutely packed full of brilliant furniture, homewares, books and toy, ready for customers to return this weekend.

“We are looking forward to opening our doors again and start welcoming our customers and donors in again.”
