A 5G tower could be coming to an area where a need for "high-speed internet” was identified.

The 15-metre monopole has been proposed for an area near the The Crown pub on Amersham Road, Hazlemere.

Under the plan, submitted to Buckinghamshire Council on March 30 and added to the planning portal this week, a 5g mast would be erected.

One resident has objected to the plans regarding the position of the cabinets blocking the view for drivers coming out of Trinity Road.

James Strachan said: "It can be difficult to have a clear line of sight when driving out of Trinity Road onto Amersham Road if there are any obstructions on the corner (beside the present bin).

"It is not clear from the application whether this has been taken into account in positioning the cabinets and whether they might obscure a driver's vision.

"The plans displayed only seem to relate to the vision of vehicles travelling on the Amersham Road, rather than any vehicles exiting from Trinity Road. This is an important point of safety."

The resident is also concerned with the 5G mast interfering with broadband/tv signal in his home.

Adding; "I have noted that they can cause interference to television sets which receive their signal from an aerial, resulting in poor reception."

Documents in the plan explain how 5g would benefit the community.

Developer Three UK said; "Everyone will have access to fast and uninterrupted sharing, streaming, and browsing via their mobile phone network.

"It will mean accessible near gigabit capable speeds when you are out and about and could, in the future, work alongside or provide an alternative to fibre and wires in the home."

The plan is currently awaiting a decision.
