Officers from Thames Valley Police apprehend three escapees on Tuesday morning…but it’s not what you're thinking.

In the morning of April 25, several residents in the Stewkley area of Buckinghamshire contacted the authorities after noticing three cows having a stroll down a cul-de-sac within the village.

It is believed that the runaway animals had escaped from a farm in Mursley, which is just a six-minute drive away from the north Buckinghamshire civil parish.

No humans or any other animals were injured during the episode.

In a brief post that Aylesbury Vale Thames Valley Police shared on Twitter and Facebook, they said: “Thank you to the many callers that alerted us to these cow-plex escape artists.

“Having moo-ved through the village at cow-sidarable speed, these individuals have been safely corned by officers, much to their unamoosment.”

They added: “We believe we have located the farmer thanks to the diligent efforts of some of the farming community so hopefully these escapees will be home safely soon.”

It is not the first time that the farmyard animals have made themselves known in Buckinghamshire.

Back in July 2019, approximately 100 cows were seen charging down a road in Lacey Green, before gatecrashing a primary school’s sports day in the area.

A spokesperson from the school told the Free Press nearly four years ago: “The cows didn’t cause any problems so it was a very interesting start to our morning.”
