The announcement of Coronation concert ticket winners has been met with uproar as thousands have dubbed it 'shambles'.

Today, April 25, thousands of UK residents found out if they had been successful in the Coronation concert ticket ballot.

However, everything wasn't as it seemed as emails started coming through highlighting that despite getting selected by the ballot, the fight for tickets wasn't over.

An email received by ballot winners read: "Congratulations, you have been successful in the ballot for a pair of standing tickets to The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday 7 May 2023.

"Tickets in this supplementary round are being offered to a randomly selected group of ballot winners on a first come first served basis, so you will need to act quickly in claiming your tickets to ensure you secure them."

Many have been left disappointed after thinking they had won tickets, only to find they had all gone.

Angry tweets have been left on Twitter, with one person saying: "What a shambles. Get told you’ve won the ballot for two tickets to go to Ticketmaster to claim to be told there is no tickets left? An explanation is owed to all that didn’t get to claim their tickets."

While another said: "What was the point in the ballot in the first place."

The BBC and Ticketmaster have been asked to address the situation.

Tony Young on twitter said: "BBC this is your event. You have not apologised to people either. You are as culpable as Ticketmaster. What an absolute joke that people can be treated like this. This needs an enquiry."

The Coronation Concert is set to see big acts such as Take That, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie take the stage.

A Ticketmaster spokeswoman told the BBC: "Everyone who was successful in the two main ballot rounds for the Coronation Concert was offered a guaranteed pair of tickets, provided they claimed them within three weeks.

"Today, any unclaimed tickets were released on a first-come, first-served basis to those who had previously applied to the ballot and were unsuccessful. These inevitably went very quickly."
