A protest will take place in Aylesbury next month after two pet dogs were shot and killed by the police.

Animal rights activists, along with members of the public, will stand in the town’s Market Square on Sunday, June 4, in solidarity with the now-deceased animals, Millions and Marshall.

This is in relation to an incident that happened on Sunday, May 7 in Commercial Road, Poplar, London, when the dogs were shot by response officers after there were alleged reports that the animals had attacked a woman in the area.

Video footage has since emerged on social media that shows a stand-off between the gentleman and his dogs with the police, before the latter shot each animal.

Both Marshall and Millions were killed instantly and the owner was then tasered.

Debates have now started about whether the police or the owner were in the right, but dog lovers and animal enthusiasts are now taking to the streets in what they have described as ‘police brutality’.

A reader, who contacted the Free Press about the incident, said: “I just want to express how heartbroken I am with the events that happened and the unnecessary outcome for those poor dogs.”

The protest on June 4 will start at 1pm.

Additionally, more than £15,000 has been raised to help the stricken owner via a Go Fund Me page.
