The musical adaptation of the historic disaster begins its week long stay at the Wycombe Swan tonight (May 22).

A critically acclaimed West End production of Titanic the Musical, praised for its 'wonderful score' and 'phenomenal ensemble' will sail into the Wycombe Swan theatre tonight (May 22) as part of its 10th anniversary tour.

The sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 14, 1912, was one of the most prominent disasters of the 20th century, with 1,517 men, women and children losing their lives.

A musical stageplay of the historic journey debuted on Broadway in 1997, the same year as the beloved Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio movie.

Its original run in New York earned the production five Tony Awards including for Best Musical and Best Score.

The London adaptation currently touring the UK and Ireland premiered at Southwark Playhouse in 2013 and was described by the Southern Daily Echo as boasting "a wonderful original score and a phenomenal ensemble cast".

Titanic the Musical is directed by Thom Southerland and focuses on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of passengers who boarded the doomed ship each with stories and ambitions of their own.

The production's cast includes Martin Allanson, Valda Akiks, Graham Bickley, Sam Brown and more.

Titanic the Musical runs at the Wycombe Swan until Saturday (May 27).
