Social media users are being urged by the police to not share an image of the aftermath of the recent M40 crash.

At around 12pm on Monday, May 22, a blue Volkswagen Golf and a white Ford Transit (tipper) were involved in an incident that resulted in the death of a woman in her 20s.

Three people, a 35-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 20-year-old woman, all from Carshalton in Surrey, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and are currently in police custody.

Sections of the motorway were closed for large parts of the day, with Thames Valley Police asking those with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.

However, they have also asked those near the scene to not share a photo that shows one of the cars.

In a brief tweet, they stated: “We are aware of an image circulating online from the scene of the collision.

“We would ask people to please not share this image and please do not post any images you may have on social media, but instead send them to Thames Valley Police.”
