When it was first reported the Moon the donkey had gone missing from Miller's Ark Farm, thousands of people across the south desperately shared appeals in a bid to track the 12-week-old foal down.

And their efforts paid off, as the stolen animal was found last night in a secluded field in Whitehouse Lane, Wooburn Moor.

Questions about how the young donkey came to be 38 miles away from her home in Hampshire remain unknown at this time, whem she was taken over a fortnight ago on May 15 from the petting farm.

The Bucks Free Press visited Whitehouse Lane today (Thursday, June 1) to investigate and speak to neighbours about what had happened.

Whitehouse Lane for those unfamiliar with the area is a long road with many potholes that leads up a hill with around 50 houses.

Beyond the homes, is a number of paddocks and yards.

Residents in Wooburn Moor shared their reactions to the news the missing donkey from Hampshire was found alive in the village last night.

One resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, was aware that the donkey had been found, and said they were surprised.

They said: “I saw a post on Instagram that Moon had been saved but to find out that it was found in Wooburn Moor was astonishing."

When asking other residents in the area, one person, who again wanted to remain nameless, opted ‘not to comment’ on the situation.

The person in question then suggested that ‘donkeys are not really seen in the area’ before moving the conversation onto the Wooburn Moor Fire which occurred in the summer of last year.

Others shared theories about how they thought Moon may have ended up in the area.

Following Moon’s discovery, Miller’s Ark Farm posted on Facebook: “We are beyond thrilled and Mum and foal are finally back together.

“Moon appears to be in good health, thank heaven, and we will make sure that Moon and her mum Astra get lots of love and care as they re-discover each other.

"A huge thank you to all streams of the media who spread the story further, Thames Valley Police for their quick response and Surrey and Hampshire Police for their work behind the scenes."

Bucks Free Press:

The two-month-old foal, Moon, was taken from a field at Miller's Ark, in Blackstock Lane, Hook  on May 15 this year.

The animal had been with its mother, Astra, but was not seen for nearly three weeks.

This caused concern amongst the community, and after a number of credible sightings were reported to the authorities, officers followed up on all leads they received.

This led to the discovery of Moon on an undisclosed property in Whitehouse Lane in the Buckinghamshire village, which sits between Loudwater and Beaconsfield, nearly 50 miles away from where the foal was taken.

Moon had an emotional reunion with her owner Penny from Miller's Ark. In a video shared to Facebook and viewed nearly 700,000 times, the pair can be seen embracing in an emotional display.

A spokesman for the farm posted: "Yesterday evening we travelled to Buckinghamshire, liaised with Thames Valley Police and have recovered little Moon.

"We are beyond thrilled and Mum and foal are finally back together. Moon appears to be in good health, thank heaven, and we will make sure that Moon and her mum Astra get lots of love and care as they re discover each other.

"It is because of all of you, amazing people, who have supported Moon, Astra and the team at Miller’s Ark, sharing this story far and wide - and now you have brought her home. A huge thank you to all streams of the media who spread the story further, Thames Valley Police for their quick response and Surrey and Hampshire Police for their work behind the scenes."
