A nursery has celebrated the start of summer holidays with a children's marathon.
The children at Mapledean Nursery on Cressex Road in High Wycombe impressed with their athletic talent during a mini-marathon in July sunshine.
The budding athletes aged between two and four completed several laps of the orchard before receiving their gold medals and certificates at the finishing line.
The nursery’s headteacher Linda Lyons said: “We decided a few years ago to replace our traditional sports day in the summer term with fully immersive ‘Fun-and-Fitness’ events which the children have really enjoyed.

“When we decided to introduce a sponsored event this year, we had no idea it would be such as great success. The children loved running around with their friends - and especially enjoyed the cooling ice-pop at the end of their run!
“I would like to take this opportunity to say a personal ‘Thank you’ to our wonderful nursery families. Their support and generosity helped us to raise an incredible £1,070 for our school funds.”
Before breaking away for the holidays, the children were also surprised with a ‘Goodbye Teddy Bears’ picnic on July 20 with a bouncy castle and a teddy themed picnic where children were encouraged to bring their favourite bear.
