THE ICONIC Chitty Chitty Bang Bang windmill in Turville has gone up for sale.

For £9million you could be the proud owner of the Cobstone Mill, a sprawling detached house featuring a former working mill that was in operation until 1873.

It gained fame as the filming location for the beloved 1968 musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

An adaptation of James Bond author Ian Fleming's book of the same name, the film starred Dick Van Dyke who played leading character inventor Caractacus Potts and Barbara Windsor. 

Cobstone Windmill, at Cadmore End on the B482, around four miles west of High Wycombe, was used as the inventor's home while other scenes were shot at nearby Pinewood Studios.

The mill was reportedly built around 1816, overlooking the village of Turville and is known locally as Turville Windmill.

Until 1873, it served as a working mill but, after being damaged by fire, it lay derelict. It was restored cosmetically for the film, and was purchased as a home for actress Hayley Mills and husband, director Roy Boulting, who continued further renovations. 

It has since had several owners, including David Brown of Aston Martin, and has now been put on the market for £9million.
