A village pub in the Buckinghamshire countryside could reopen soon months after it suddenly closed.

Punters were left shocked after The Crown, the last remaining pub in Ley Hill, suddenly shut in June.

The licensee Rob Deller-Hoy said staying open was no longer sustainable due to the rising costs and the impact of Covid, while the pub’s owners Star Pubs and Bars were left scrambling to find a new operator.

Now a successor to take over the helm at the traditional village pub has been found, Star Pubs and Bars revealed.

“We are finalising details for a new operator to take on The Crown, hopefully within a matter of weeks, and we are undertaking minor opening repairs,” the Heineken-owned company said.

Before its closure, The Crown was the last remaining pub in the village after The Swan next door closed.

Campaigners are now fighting to save the 500-year-old Swan pub from being turned into a nursery after the most recent plans by the developer.
