Wetherspoon is 'committed' to opening a pub in a Bucks town despite speculation after another venue was put on the market.

JD Wetherspoon purchased the building at 3 Market Square in Marlow in March 2023 and acquired planning permission for a venue at the site in November 2022.

Following confirmation that the pub chain's plans to develop a branch in Beaconsfield are no longer going ahead, speculation has abounded as to whether the Marlow venue is similarly at risk.

However, the company is reportedly still planning to open a pub in the town's former M&Co building.

A spokesperson for Wetherspoon said the decision to put the Beaconsfield site on the market was "commercially" motivated and does not impact the future of other branches.

They added: "Wetherspoon is still committed to opening in Marlow."

The pub in Marlow is expected to be called The Swan Hook and is estimated to create between 50 and 60 new staff roles.

An opening date for the venue has yet to be announced.
