Villagers have pleaded for help to get a ‘beloved’ clocktower ticking again.
The historical clocktower in the picturesque Bradenham village has gone silent to the dismay of the residents in the parish near High Wycombe.
Time at the historical St Botolph Church has “literally” stopped, church warden Richard Langridge said.
The bells date back before the Black Death in 1348 while the clock is from the 17th century.
Richard explained: “For over 600 years, the clock on the church tower has beat out the time, marking passages of birth, marriages and death.
“Although repaired many times, it is now needing a comprehensive overhaul and the church, which receives no funding for repairs from the Church of England, simply can't afford the £3,600 needed to buy a new motor, put up a scaffolding, and paint the clock face, first done when Charles II was on the throne!”

So far, the online JustGiving fundraiser has raised £380 in just nine days after residents rushed in to support the “beautiful” church.
Supporter Rebecca Kavanagh said: “A very special church!”
Sarah Dunning said: “I was baptised at this church and now my Dad is at rest in the beautiful grounds.”
Sue Hutton said: “I hope to hear the clock chiming again soon.”
