A new community bus has launched in a Buckinghamshire town.

The new Beaconsfield Community bus connects New Town, Old Town and Holtspur.

Stops include Waitrose, the Medical Centre, the garden centre, the Curzon Centre, Wycombe End, Holtspur School and St Thomas’s Church among others.

The Beaconsfield Town Council announced the bus as part of a 12-month trial to help residents opt for public transport.

The town mayor Jackson Ng said: “We have a lot of elderly residents who are struggling to get around and a lot of people drive, so to reduce the pressure on parking spaces, the Town Council came up with the idea.”

The bus will operate between 10am and 3pm Monday to Friday with two buses running on a circular route in opposite directions.

Passengers with a bus pass and under 16s can travel for free while a journey costs £1 for everyone else.

The community bus project is looking for volunteer minibus drivers.
