A 33-year-old man has been jailed for more than a decade after he sexually abused two young girls.

Mike Martin, of no fixed abode but is originally from Aylesbury, was found guilty of nine counts of sexual activity with a child, which related to two vulnerable girls in the Dacorum area of Hertfordshire.

His trial lasted 16 days at St Albans Crown Court during the spring, and he was sentenced for his crimes on August 31 this year.

The crimes began in 2012 when the paedophile had sex with two schoolgirls in the west of the county when he was 23-years-old.

His charges are as follows:

  • Engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Five years and six months
  • Engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Five years and six months - concurrent
  • Engage in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Six years
  • Engage in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Five years and six months - concurrent
  • Engage in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Four years - concurrent
  • Engage in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Four years and six months - concurrent
  • Engage in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Four years and six months - concurrent
  • Engage in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Five years consecutive
  • Engage in penetrative sexual activity with a child: Five years - concurrent
