Politicians in Bucks have paid tribute to Britain’s longest-serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, who died one year ago today at 96 years old.

Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8, 2022, marking the end of her 77-year reign and consolidating her role as the country’s longest-serving monarch.

Patricia Birchley, Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council said: “One year on from the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the unrivalled contribution she made to the citizens of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and across the world throughout her life.

Ms Birchley added that residents wishing to pay tribute to the Queen on the first anniversary of her passing could practice an act of kindness in her memory.

She said: “Whether you check that an elderly neighbour is managing in the current hot weather, donate some pre-loved items you no longer need to charity or reach out to someone you know who has been having a difficult time recently and see if they want to talk, I encourage everyone to undertake a small act of kindness today in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
