Numerous household items have been dumped in High Wycombe in another case of fly-tipping within the town.

At around 5pm on Friday, September 15, a member of the public noticed two upside-down bed bases with broken headboards, a tarpaulin cover, scrap metal, computer/TV screens, cleaning gear and bin bags submerged within a hedge on Duke Street.

The waste was discovered only a few hundred yards away from where the town’s One Can Trust foodbank is based.

The resident, who recently moved to the area, said: “I was out on a walk getting things done when I noticed the two beds.

“I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

“I then saw all the other stuff which included a mop and a screen of some kind.

“I didn’t want to get too near to it as I didn’t know what was in the bags.

“I know fly tipping is an issue in England, but to see that was quite shocking.”

According to the gov.uk website, over one million reported cases of fly-tipping were notified during the 2021/22 year, which is on average 19 incidents per 1,000 people.

Buckinghamshire Council have since urged residents to not discard their waste via 'cash for trash' services, but instead dispose of it via local skips and tips.

Additionally, those living in the area are encouraged to report fly-tipping incidents via the FixMyStreet website.
