Hundreds of people joined a broadcasting legend Jeff Stelling on his pilgrimage from Wembley to Wycombe last Sunday.

The 26.2-mile walk was in aid of Prostate Cancer UK with the ex-Soccer Saturday frontman helping to raise more than £200,000 for the cause.

This was in memory of the former television and radio presenter, Bill Turnbull, who passed away from the illness in August 2022.

Jeff said: “What a welcome! 34 marathons, and that was the best one of them all.

“I’m delighted to have completed this challenge for Prostate Cancer UK in honour of the great Bill Turnbull - and all those who have seen their lives affected by this dreadful disease.

"Bill was at the heart of so many conversations today; so many happy memories stirred up of a great man and a master of his craft.

“Sadly he was diagnosed too late, but I know raising awareness of the risk of this disease was such a big thing for him.

“It was lovely to meet his family, and I hope they would have all been proud that so many walked, new friendships were forged and crucial funds were raised for such an important cause.

“Again I was truly humbled at meeting so many people with prostate cancer stories throughout the 26.2 miles.

“I was inspired by so many of my fellow walkers, and deeply moved at some of the stories I heard.

“Since 2016 those walkers have helped us raise lifesaving funds to change the game for men.

Thank you to everyone.

“You are all ‘unbelievable’.”
