A film festival featuring quirky locations across the Chilterns returns this month. 

On Location Film Festival returns in October for the second time, featuring film screenings at unexpected locations.

The annual celebration of cinema gives movie fans a chance to watch their favourites in a unique setting and take part in quizzes and workshops.

The Elgiva Theatre’s manager and film festival organiser David Cooper said: "This year, we have a bumper crop of events, and we're determined to push the boundaries of cinematic experiences by hosting amazing films in quirky and unusual locations within the stunning Chilterns.

“We have quizzes, trails and workshops, so whether you're a film aficionado or simply looking for a memorable cultural experience, this festival is not to be missed."

Here are just some of the films and movie-themed activities on offer. 

The Chilterns’ Academy Award Trail

The trail is happening throughout the festival in October, boasting award-winning film locations, re-enactments of iconic cinematic moments and a chance to win a prize.

Bend It Like Beckham

Catch the hit feel-good film at Chesham United’s football ground on Friday, October 6 starring Keira Knightley and Parminder Nagra.

Film Music Live

Local composers Rael Jones, Michael Price and Anne Dudley bring film-focused musical delight at The Elgiva in Chesham on Tuesday, October 10.

The chamber concert will feature music from film and TV, including Poldark, Sherlock and Mrs Harris goes to Paris with the award-winning composes at the piano.

Some Like It Hot

Watch the much-loved Hollywood comedy at Roots Café on Chesham High Street on Thursday, October 12.

Food and desserts will be served during the screening.

An Evening with Laurel & Hardy, presented by Neil Brand

On Location Film Festival 2023 will conclude with a an event featuring the composer and presenter Neil Brand, a leading expert on silent film and silent comedy.

With his original composed music, Neil will take the audience into a journey of the world-famous comedy duo.
