The areas of Buckinghamshire where you are most likely to be burgled have been revealed.

A study, which was conducted by MoneySuperMarket, analysed more than seven million home insurance quotes from customers to find the UK postcodes with the highest and lowest rates of burglary claims since 2020.

The figures are based on burglary-related insurance claims per 1,000 people.

And their research revealed that those living in an HP23 postcode will be more prone to being burgled than anywhere else in Bucks.

However, out of the 2,377 postal codes in the UK, this was ranked 116th on the list.

Those living in the HP23 area of Bucks are based in Cholesbury, St Leonards, Buckland Common and Tring, despite the latter falling in Hertfordshire.

The next appearance on the list was those based in HP16 which came in at 252nd in the rankings, with its residents being based in Great Missenden, Ballinger, The Lee, Little Hampden, Little Kingshill, Prestwood and South Heath respectively.

Surprisingly, despite having the largest population, habitants living with an HP11 postcode [High Wycombe and Downley], were ranked as one of the lowest.

Those two areas came in at 1,458th on the rankings.

David McDermottroe, home insurance expert at MoneySuperMarket said: “After a prolonged period of lockdowns and covid restrictions last year saw us getting back to the office, travel opening up, and more socialising with friends.

“Unfortunately, the extra time spent away from our homes provided burglars with more opportunities. In fact, our research found that burglary claims last year were 106 per cent higher than those recorded in 2020, rising from 7.79 to 16.01 per 1,000 quotes.

“Although this type of crime may be less common in those areas, unfortunately, no one is immune to burglars.”
