A driver is facing a lengthy ban after driving an uninsured vehicle on the wrong side of the road while under the influence in Buckinghamshire.

Thames Valley Police officers spotted a car driving towards them on the wrong side of the Bicester Road in Aylesbury at around 4:30am this morning (October 19).

The police assertively stopped the vehicle by driving in front of it as it moved across the road, forcing it to a stop.

The driver was detained and found to be over 3.5 times the alcohol limit. Checks also found that the car they were driving was uninsured.

The motorist has since been charged to court and is facing a "lengthy driving ban". Their car has also been seized.

A spokesperson for the force issued a reminder on its digital channels that drinking and driving, and driving without insurance was “not worth the risk”.
