COOKHAMS' turkey producer Copas Farm has won two prestigious national award for their traditional turkeys and homemade gin.

The Great British Food Awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the country’s finest artisanal produce, as well as the hard-working people behind the scenes.

This year, Copas farm has won a silver award for its traditional turkeys and a gold award for its Small Batch Rosemary Gin.

Copas Traditional Turkeys is true family business with Tom Jr taking over the helm from his Dad, each led by the same values and artisan methods that Tom Snr embraced when he met his first flock of feathered friends.

Copas Turkeys are loved by some of Britain’s favourite chefs and foodies as well as a loyal following of home delivery and farm gate customers.

Turkeys are quickly being snapped up for Christmas, with 4kg and 4.5kg turkeys already sold out.

How are the turkeys bred?

During the day, the turkeys are allowed to stroll around the farms cherry orchards and  grass meadows taking in the fresh air as soon as they’re old enough (usually six weeks old).

Copas turkeys enjoy an oat-rich, nutritionally-balanced, natural cereal diet that’s ethically sourced and completely free of growth promoters or other nasties.

The experienced husbandry team is led by Olly who has worked with Copas Turkeys for several years.

Rosemary gin

Bucks Free Press:

This Copas gin is inspired by botanicals found on and around the turkey farm in Cookham, Berkshire.

As well as the inclusion of rosemary which grows throughout the farm, other botanicals include juniper, coriander, angelica, grapefruit, lemon, liquorice and grains of paradise.

The Copas team have developed it with Griffiths Brothers in Penn and "are very proud of the result."
