An estate agent is planning to 'revitalise' the shopfront of a former High Street bank in Buckinghamshire in the hopes of attracting a 'fresh new' retail buyer.

Sorbon Estates, a property investor and developer that already owns many retail properties on Marlow High Street, is planning to construct a new shopfront, complete with redesigned colours and hanging signs, at the town's former HSBC branch, 46 High Street.

Sorbon acquired the freehold interest in the property following the closure of HSBC, one of Marlow's last in-person banking branches, in July this year.

The investor has submitted a planning application to Buckinghamshire Council proposing the construction of two hanging signs and shopfront alterations outside the building ahead of securing a letting in the new year.

George Andrews, Assistant Land and Planning Manager for Sorbon, said a precedent had been set for the proposed changes, adding that they would "replicate the appearance of neighbouring shopfronts" in keeping with the High Street and the Marlow Conservation Area.

He said the application had been submitted to "create a better sense of place and to increase footfall to the High Street by making it more vibrant and attractive to the public".

A spokesperson for Sorbon Estates said: "We are delighted to have recently acquired 46 High Street in Marlow.

"We are currently in the process of revitalising the old bank into a fresh new space for retail, making it more useable for a future tenant. We look forward to welcoming a new addition to the High Street soon."
