A week on after a driver plunged through a nursery wall, here is everything we know about the ‘unsettling’ Christmas crash.

A classroom in Acre Wood Nursery School in Amersham was partially destroyed after a driver crashed into the flint stone building on Woodside Road on Christmas Day (December 25).

Shocked parents said the room is usually full of children sitting and playing right where the black Mercedes SLK plunged into.

Police confirmed a 59-year-old woman from Amersham was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit and failure to provide a specimen at the roadside on Monday, December 25.

She has since been de-arrested.

Mum Julie, whose children go to the nursery, told the Free Press: “That is the room the older children sit and play in.

"If the accident had occurred during the day there would have been children sat right behind that wall.

“It is quite unsettling.”

After the car was pulled out of the hole and towed away on Thursday (December 28), repair works were expected to be carried out in the days following the crash, with discussion of further protective measures.

The nursery school had 89 children on its roll in 2022, according to an Ofsted report.

A police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information, dash-cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage should contact Thames Valley Police online or by calling 101 and quoting reference number 43230575957.
