An actor and comedian who starred in the ITV sitcom Benidorm ate 'the best scotch eggs he had ever tasted' at a butcher shop in Buckinghamshire.

Nik Coles, who runs Tudor House, the branch of RS Troutt & Co on West Wycombe High Street, already knew that the family-run butchers' homemade scotch eggs were a customer favourite.

The soft-yolked and lightly spiced creations received an unexpected celebrity endorsement, however, when comedian and actor Johnny Vegas dropped by for a savoury snack while filming in the area.

Nik said the comedian, who played Geoff Maltby in ITV's Benidorm, was filming a project on the West Wycombe estate a couple of years ago when he stopped by the shop to pick up two of Troutt's signature scotch eggs.

"He came back to the shop later the same day and said the scotch eggs were amazing and the best he had ever had."

Nik makes the meat for the scotch eggs at RS Troutt & Co's Tudor House branch, while Richard Troutt, whose father founded the business in 1965, is based in the Hazlemere branch, where the light bites are assembled by manager Ashley.
