A PUB has dispelled rumours over its closure for good.

Fans of The White Lion pub were left saddened after rumours that the popular pub between Amersham and Little Chalfont was closing.

The cosy, dog-friendly pub is known for its Christmas meals, “tipsy” afternoon teas and selection of ales.

Now the pub has denied the online rumours claiming the pub was closing soon.

The White Lion’s interim manager Zoe Ferguson said the pub is “definitely not closing.”

Instead, the pub is expecting a new manager to start next week, so the pub will close for a couple of days to allow for the change of hands.

“Nothing’s changing, the pub will be the same but with a new menu. All the staff are staying and the name is staying the same,” she explained.

The pub will be open until Saturday, January 13, before closing on Sunday, January 14 and Monday, January 15 for the change of hands.

The period leading up to Christmas was “busier than last year figure-wise,” but January usually marks a quiet time for pubs and bars.

“January is what we call a lockdown period, it’s quiet everywhere,” Zoe said.

“It gets busier as soon as it gets warmer, February going into spring and we’ve got Valentine’s and Easter.”

The pub boasts options for ‘dry January’, including non alcoholic beer and cider and soft drinks, which have been “selling a lot,” she said.

“We’re definitely busier this January. People have noticed they taste quite good.”
