A woman suffered neck and back pain when she was attacked by a dog in High Wycombe.

The woman told police that she had been attacked by a German Shepherd while in Desborough Park recreation ground, off Chapel Lane, High Wycombe on January 9.

Thames Valley Police have closed the investigation but confirmed they received a report of a dangerous dog incident.

Police said if anyone has further information to call 101 or make a report on their website quoting reference number 43240012875.

Miss Smith spoke to the Free Press about the incident, which left her in shock and feeling anxious to walk her Husky Zeus.

She said: "My marks are very superficial from where I was trying to get the Alsatian off my boy.

"I have my dog strapped to my waist on a lead designed for that purpose so I have more control as he is a husky. So I got tangled in the lead where my boy was trying to get away from the Alsatian.

"Luckily for us both no serious injuries. I do believe however had I not had my boy on my waist things could of been a lot worse."

Miss Smith described her dog as a 'big bundle of fun and fair' who loves people and well socialised with dogs.

The walk on Tuesday was slightly later than usual and via Fryers Lane as it's a 'safer option when dark'.

However, when Miss Smith and Zeus approached home she noticed two people walking towards the bridge with a Alsatian.

"Zeus laid on the floor and the Alsatian went into a stealth position. I realised at this point there was a high chance this dog was going to attack.

"The owner/s called the dog, Reg, I believe, but he ignored them and randomly attacked Zeus.

"I've never experienced a dog attack in my life so I was in shock and screaming at the owner/s to get their dog away.

"The larger of the two males tried grabbing his dog, knocking into me as I was at this point tangled in Zeus' lead. I was also trying to grab this dogs collar and hurt my hand in doing so.

"The man eventually dragged his dog up the path by its collar and then, to my surprise, let go, and the Alsatian came back to attack again.

"I noticed he had ripped a lot of fur from Zeus, and I was again struggling to get the dog off my boy. At this point, I had no idea if Zeus was bleeding.

"The owner/s said absolutely nothing apart from shouting the Alsatians name.

"I burst into tears and said I was reporting them, and I walked as quickly as I could to get safe.

"I was in total shock and Zeus did hide under my table for a while.

"Dog owners need to be responsible at all times. If your dog isn't social and is aggressive, then it should be muzzled and on a lead, and some kind of training should be in place."
