A BANK has announced plans to cut its opening hours on a Buckinghamshire high street.

Metro Bank plans to cut its branch opening hours in High Wycombe town centre.

Located in the Eden Shopping Centre, the bank announced it was going to shut on the weekends while the weekday hours would be reduced.

Currently, Metro Bank High Wycombe is open seven days a week and from 8.30am until 6pm during the week, which allows those working in nine to five jobs to use the services before and after work.

From Friday, March 29, the new opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm.

Metro Bank assured customers it wasn't planning to leave High Wycombe.

A spokesperson for the bank said: “We remain committed to our stores across England and Wales and we will be opening more stores in the north of England during 2024 and 2025.  However, since we opened for business over a decade ago, there has been a notable change in how our customers choose to use our services – particularly the rise in the convenience of 24/7 online and mobile app banking.

“We have undertaken a lot of analysis about when our customers visited our stores and transacted with us. With the majority of transactions taking place during Monday-Friday we believe the change in hours will have minimal impact and we will be helping every customer who needs our assistance to find other ways to bank with us. As a result of this analysis we are changing store opening hours but there are no plans to close any store including High Wycombe.”
