A Sri Lankan restaurant in a Bucks town has applied to serve alcohol and play music until 2am.

Choice of Taste on London Road, High Wycombe has applied to Buckinghamshire Council for a new premises licence.

The eatery, which serves ‘authentic Sri Lankan and Indian cuisine’, opened a week ago, having previously been closed since 2019.

The Wycombe restaurant is the owner’s second branch of Choice of Taste – the first being in Hounslow.

The owner is seeking a premises licence to serve alcohol from 11am until 1am Sunday to Thursday and until 2am Friday to Saturday.

The hours proposed for providing live and recorded music, and late night refreshment are from 11pm to 1am Sunday to Thursday and until 2am Friday to Saturday.

The application says that a 24-hour CCTV system and challenge 25 proof of age scheme will be in place.

However, the application has drawn a representation from the Licensing Authority, which said the applicant had “failed to put forward adequate proposals to prevent the risk of public nuisance caused by live or recorded music”.

Environmental Protection has objected to the application as well, saying that the applicant does not adequately show how they would prevent public nuisance.
