A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a member of the public reported a man carrying a large knife in Buckinghamshire.

Police officers were called to Savoy Crescent in Milton Keynes at around 10pm last night (February 3) following a report that a man had been spotted carrying a large knife.

No one is thought to have been injured but a 19-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.

Investigating Officer Inspector Graeme Williams described it as a "serious incident", for which a "thorough investigation" is currently underway.

He added: "We are in the very early stages of our investigation and are still trying to establish the full circumstances.

"It's really important that you get in touch as soon as possible if you have any information that could help our investigation.

"We believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public."
