A volunteer at the One Can Trust was overjoyed when a YouTube TV crew surprised her with four free tickets to watch Wycombe Wanderers.

Grandmother, Vanessa Geffen, a long-serving volunteer at the foodbank, was given the tickets after being nominated for a ‘Chairboys Surprise’ as part of the new ‘Trust In The Blues’ online show, which has been produced by the Wycombe Wanderers Supporters’ Trust.

The surprise was sprung by Aaliya, a pupil at Wycombe High School and one of the reporters for the new YouTube programme which is presented entirely by local students.

Vanessa was nominated by her boss, Jo Belshaw, who said: “Vanessa is an amazing person who regularly packs parcels at our chilly warehouse in Duke Street.

“On a Tuesday, she transforms into a fabulous ‘Spice Girl’ as part of a team that makes up spice bags to accompany our food parcels to those in need.

“Vanessa is an absolute treasure and regularly helps at food drives too – without question, giving up her time at the weekend to oversee the events.

“We really couldn’t be without her and her incredible support, positivity, and reliability”.

After being presented with her match tickets she added: “This is such a fantastic surprise – it’s just brilliant.

“Football has been in my blood ever since my kids were playing football. My daughters both played and they’re now in their forties, so they’ve been playing for over 30 years.

“I have grandchildren who play football and one of the best things I love most about a grandparent is standing on the touchline watching my grandchildren playing football”.

The online show will focus on all the latest news from the Trust and the rest of the Wycombe Wanderers local community.

Trust Chair, Bob Massie, concluded: “We are proud that the new show is now presented entirely by local students from all over South Bucks.

“If any other students would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you.”
