A woman from Fulmer has slammed an 'unacceptable' case of fly-tipping on a local road.

Isa Jones, who lives in the village of Fulmer, near Gerrards Cross, spotted a large-scale case of fly-tipping on the corner of Stoke Common Road this morning (February 21).

She took several photos of the dumped items, which include two mattresses and what appears to be a disassembled desk, and said it was close to an "abandoned house" that she suspected had become a popular place to deposit rubbish and debris.

Isa said: "As a resident and commuter, it is unacceptable to see how disgraceful our roads are every day. We now have to drive down an unlit road with potholes the size of moon craters and now (drive past) this case of fly-tipping.

"The road should be well-lit and looked after, (especially) considering that it's close to the Common, which is an important part of the community."

One photo of the scene shows rubbish accumulating around a 'No Fly Tipping' sign installed on a fence by Buckinghamshire Council, an instruction that appeared to have been flagrantly ignored by the offending parties.

A spokesperson for the council said they were aware of the incident and an enforcement team was looking for evidence about who the waste belongs to and who dumped it.

They added that if the roadside is identified as public land, council clearance teams would remove the fly-tipping, but if it is found to be private land, the responsibility would fall on the owner to organise and fund the clearance.
