Planners have refused a plan for a modern home in High Wycombe that offered ‘views into a neighbour’s lounge’.
Mohammed Ansari’s proposals for a two-bedroom home for three people at 29 Highwood Avenue were refused by Buckinghamshire Council.
A planning officer said the size, scale and layout of the new property ‘would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the surrounding area’.
The applicant said the home’s internal layout would ‘ensure the privacy of its intended occupiers and neighbours’.

However, several residents disagreed, including the next-door neighbour who claimed their property ‘would be devalued with the proximity of the new build’.
They added: “We strongly object to the terrace on the upper level of the rear overlooking our garden which would give anyone direct view into our lounge and bedroom which would invade our privacy.”
Other residents said the single parking space proposed under the plans was not sufficient in an area which already suffers from ‘significant dangerous parking’.
