Three people have been charged with robbery, grievous bodily harm and knife possession in connection with violent incidents in Amersham and Chesham Bois.

A staff member at the Londis store on Bois Lane in Chesham Bois was hit with an axe during a violent robbery that happened at around 5:30pm on Thursday, February 22.

Thames Valley Police linked the incident to a robbery that happened one day before, February 21, at Ivy Stores on Plantation Road in Amersham and involved a man threatening a member of staff with a knife.

Two men and a teenager have now been charged in connection with the robberies.

Aaron Birbeck, 31, of Kidderminster Road, Croydon, was charged with two counts of robbery and possession of a knife blade in a public space, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent.

Connor McVay, 26, of Copperkins Lane, Amersham, was charged with using a vehicle dangerously, failing to stop when directed by a traffic officer and using a vehicle without third-party insurance.

A 15-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons was also charged with two counts of robbery.

Birbeck and McVay have been remanded in custody and the 15-year-old has been released on bail.

They are due to appear at Aylesbury Crown Court on April 9.
