A Bletchley woman has been fined for irresponsibly disposing of a mattress.
Channell Dolphin, 26, from Bletchley, was given a £756 financial penalty at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on Wednesday, March 6, following an incident involving illegal fly-tipping at Grove, Slapton.
Dolphin was found guilty of negligence after she paid a man £20 to dispose of her mattress, but failed to check if he was licensed.
The discarded item led back to her after a parish councillor discovered it on April 17, 2023, and alerted Buckinghamshire Council.
Dolphin had also been issued a fixed penalty prior to her court appeal, which she had neglected to pay.
The court took into consideration Dolphin's guilty plea while determining the fine, which encompassed the costs of the violation as well.
Buckinghamshire Council said it will continue to actively investigate such instances in an effort to combat the issue of fly tipping.
