Construction has commenced on a new Sixth Form Centre at Waddesdon School.

The project, a long-standing ambition of the Rothschild Foundation and Buckinghamshire Council, pays tribute to the late Lord Jacob Rothschild, a businessman, cultural leader, and local champion of education.

The Sixth Form Centre is set to open its doors to students next year in January.

Matthew Abbott, Headteacher of Waddesdon CE School, said: "This is an amazing opportunity for our students and the wider community made possible by the energetic work of a collection of a committed group of people."

The innovative design includes collaborative workspaces and an innovation lab empowering students to contribute positively to society.

Hannah Rothschild, Chair of the Rothschild Foundation, said: "Nothing is more inspiring, empowering and liberating than a good education... My father Jacob... was justifiably proud of this school’s achievements... his family are so proud it will bear his name."

Adding his voice to the approval, Joseph Baum, Buckinghamshire Council’s Deputy Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services, said: "This is an important project for Buckinghamshire... Schemes like this demonstrate that commitment and show how Buckinghamshire children can access high quality facilities and resources for their learning."

The school, renowned for academic, social, and emotional nurturance, will continue its firm commitment to comprehensive education within the new Centre.
