Police have evacuated six homes in Marlow for the second time in four days after ‘discovering further items’ at a property under search warrant.

Police officers closed James Close and temporarily evacuated six homes in the area on Saturday afternoon (March 23) after finding chemicals during a warranted property search.

Morgan Thackwell, 23, was charged at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court today (March 26) with counts of possessing an offensive weapon and cocaine and cannabis, while a woman in her fifties who was arrested on Saturday was released on bail.

Thames Valley Police has now confirmed that the force conducted a similar area closure and evacuation of six houses in James Close today (March 26), with residents told not to return home until later this evening.

Detective Chief Inspector Sally Spencer said the evacuation and closure of the area today is due to ‘further items’ being discovered at the property in question, necessitating examination from ‘specialist teams’.

She said: “We have today continued to investigate the scene in James Close, Marlow, following a warrant on Friday.

“Officers have been working through the scene and have today discovered further items. As such we have taken the precaution to evacuate six homes in the area and have put a cordon in place. Specialist teams have been called in to assess the items that have been discovered.

“We apologise to the residents who have been displaced as a result of this, but the safety of the public is paramount. We will continue to work as quickly as possible so that they can return to their properties.”
