FLOOD alerts are in place across areas of Flintshire and Wrexham today (Thursday, March 28). 

Natural Resources Wales has issued an alert for the River Alyn at Rossett, including Burton Road, Station Road, The Copse and Chester Road.

Alerts have also been issued for the Alyn catchment, which includes the Mold, Hope, Trevalyn and Marford areas.

Heavy rain fell overnight, and more is expected this afternoon and evening.

A Met Office forecast for North East Wales states: "Heavy rain and perhaps some snow in the northeast slowly clearing, otherwise briefly fine. Further showery rain developing from the south, heavy in places with thunder and hail. Windy with coastal gales possible in the south. Feeling rather cool.

The outlook improves for the start of the Bank Holiday weekend - with a mixture of sunny spells and blustery scattered showers for Good Friday. Feeling warm in any prolonged sunshine.
