A "VILE smelling" leak on Kennedy Avenue has been flowing towards Daws Hill Lane since Thursday afternoon (March 28).

The suspected raw sewage leak was reported to Thames Water and Taylor Wimpey at 2.30pm.

The leak is the result of a "Hydraulic overload" at the Daws Hill housing estate in High Wycombe.

Thames Water engineers attended the scene this morning (Friday, March 29) to unblock the drainage system.

Yet, a resident expressed frustration when Thames Water reportedly refused to clean up the mess, advising them to contact house building firm, Taylor Wimpey.

The resident said: "Taylor Wimpey and our management company both have refused to clean up the mess".

They added that the situation is a health hazard and "is a complete mess" and would only get worse with no forecasted rainfall.

Another resident lamented the presence of the sewage, adding: "It smells real bad" and "it has reached the roundabout so you have no choice to drive through it."

A Thames Water spokesperson said: “Our engineers have investigated the reported leaks on Kennedy Avenue towards Daws Hill Lane in High Wycombe.

"We can confirm that the leak was caused due to Hydraulic overload. This takes place in occurrences of extremely heavy rainfall where the system is unable to manage the flow.

"Our repairs have now been completed and the area has been cleaned following the leak.

"We are sorry to residents and businesses that were affected by the leak and would like to thank the resident for bringing this to our attention’’.

A Taylor Wimpey spokesperson said: “We apologise to all residents affected by the leak on Daws Hill Lane last week.

“After we were made aware of the issue, we quickly attended the site and arranged for the surrounding roads to be swept and cleaned.

“The drainage system was regularly checked over the Easter weekend and is now working as it should."
