The company behind a cafe in a popular Marlow park has filed for liquidation, confirming closure rumours after months of speculation.

The Resolute Cafe in Higginson Park hasn't been open for business since December, with reassurances that it was taking a winter break made more uncertain by its persistently bare shopfront.

Seemingly confirming the closure rumours, K&N Foods Limited, the company behind the cafe, appointed a liquidator on March 7.

It followed a general meeting of company members on February 28, who decided that K&N Foods, currently trading as The Resolute, would be "wound down voluntarily".

The cafe opened next to the newly refurbished playground in Higginson Park in 2018, following the departure of the popular coffee chain Costa after struggling with high rent costs.

It described itself as a "modern British dining experience" and offered a continually rotating menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Documents on Companies House show that K&N Foods had a total deficiency surplus of £527,000 prior to liquidation.

The site formerly occupied by the cafe is owned by the Higginson Park Trust on behalf of Buckinghamshire Council.

Clive Harriss, Buckinghamshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture & Leisure said: “The previous tenant of the Resolute Café has ceased trading at this location. Buckinghamshire Council and the Higginson Park Trust are working through the legal and commercial processes to re-let the cafe to a new tenant so that it can re-open as soon as possible, but these processes will take some time in order to assess prospective tenants and put a new lease in place."
