An inspirational woman with a life limiting condition from Amersham is making a name for herself in the business world with her own brand of uplifting clothing.

Entrepreneur, Ruth Spurr, 28, with multiple chronic illnesses including EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), has set up an innovative clothing and accessories brand designed to promote positivity and fulfilment in life.

The brand was launched at an event on March 26 in Amersham's Jubilee Hall, supported by Spurr's friends, the community and Tesco.

This trendy range of clothes and accessories allows customers to add personalised messages and slogans, reflecting Ruth's ethos of finding something good in every day, even when living with debilitating conditions.

Ruth's brand is not simply about turning a profit, but also about raising awareness and inspiring those in similar circumstances or dealing with mental health issues.

Through her business, public speaking and the use of social media, she aims to demonstrate that life, despite health challenges, can still be fun and fulfilling.

Walking through her health journey, Ruth told the Metro previously: "Growing up, my health was never wonderful.

"It was only when I started passing out regularly at school aged 14, that I was eventually diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, or POTS."

She further explained, "Since it’s usually caused by other medical conditions, doctors did various tests and eventually, in December 2015, aged 20, I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)."

Ruth shared further insights about her condition saying, "EDS is a complicated condition that affects the connective tissues in my body, which can affect people’s joints.

"I get a lot of pain.

"But in my case, it has also affected my internal organs, including my bladder and bowel."

Ruth, who also suffers from Addison’s Disease leading to osteoporosis, arranges her life around permanent steroids to manage her condition.

Despite her circumstances, Ruth is determined to live her life to the fullest, an aim mirrored in her uniquely conceived business venture.

Recognising the potential seriousness of her condition, Ruth said: "While none of my conditions are terminal, they can be life-threatening.

"Even when I wasn’t in hospital, it was hard to come to terms with the way my life had changed completely."

Neil Walker praised Ruth for her determination to launch her business.

He said: "Despite everything Ruth does an incredible amount on social media, and through public speaking to give hope to others with similar health or mental illnesses, that life can still be fulfilling and fun.

"She has recently started up a new business, aimed at helping others , as well as funding her bucket list and following a recent launch and photoshoot."
