A Gerrards Cross man has been banned from cutting down a beech tree and shortening oaks in his front and rear gardens.
Mr S Powell applied to Buckinghamshire Council for permission to carry out the work at Mentmore House, 63 Windsor Road.
However, planning officers rejected his plans, saying they ‘would have a detrimental impact on the health’ of the four trees.
Reducing the size of the oaks, which are 16 to 20 metres tall, would ‘not promote’ their health, planners added.
Commenting on the beech, they said: “The reasons given for its removal is unjustified at this current time and it is an attractive feature to the property.”
Mentmore House is the former address of Brian Peck, the mayor and chairman of Gerrards Cross Town Council.
Mr Peck left the property in 2022, although it is still listed on Companies House as the address of his property business Mentmore Homes.
The town council said it was not opposed to reducing the size of the three oaks, although did object to the felling of the beech.
It said: “This is a prominent tree at the front of the property and visible from the street with no evidence of any problems.”
