McDonald's in High Wycombe, Dovecot Road could get refurb

The outlet in Dovecot, which is situated in the centre of town, is one of two Golden Arches restaurants that currently boast a drive-thru in the area.

But changes to the venue are expected to take place.

This comes after McDonald’s opened its fourth branch in the area on April 24 along Crest Road.

The other two locations are based along the High Street and on Holmer Farm Way, with the latter being inside the town’s main Asda store.

Alan Butchers, who owns eight McDonald’s restaurants across Wycombe and Hemel Hempstead, told the Free Press: “In our new outlet, we have a delivery room for our courier partners such as Just Eat, Deliveroo and Uber.

“The drivers and riders can take the orders from this room so that it doesn’t disrupt our customers who are eating in.

“This is one of the things we’re going to be rolling out in other McDonald’s restaurants.

“It’ll be one of the things we’ll be doing when we do a reimage and a refurb to the one in Dovecot, so we’ll make sure we have that in there as well.

“These are good, as it takes the currier issue away from the dining area and it’ll give our customers a better experience when eating in.”

When asked about the plans for Dovecot, he said: “We’re looking at it right now.

“We just need to understand the market and see what’s going to happen but it’s certainly in our plans moving forward.

“We want to get this one off the ground and running properly first, then see what we can do with Dovecot.”

The news comes on the same day the town’s Crest Road branch opened after nearly 18 months of planning.

The grand opening at 11 am saw many people from High Wycombe and beyond descend to the latest fast-food chain, which will be open for 24 hours.

Numerous people, both young and old, tried out the machines, ordered at the counter, and enjoyed what the restaurant had to offer.

The opening day saw customers only being able to purchase items off their lunch/dinner menu, whilst its first full day of Thursday, April 25, will allow those visiting to get treats from the well-known breakfast list.

Mr Butchers continued: “I think this is a great opportunity to grow the brand in High Wycombe and improve the area.

“From my understanding, this area has developed quite considerably over the last 18 months and my  team has done a brilliant job in getting everything together.”

We at the Free Press visited the establishment and were impressed with the politeness of the staff, the smooth operation of the drive-thru, along with its décor.

The restaurant is open 24 hours a day.
